flowers

I just came in from watering. This pot which gets fun sun most of the day, till late afternoon, still looks great. The deer got into my roses and they look miserable. It's partly my fault as I did not spray them with deer repellent lately. I always get so lazy when hot weather hits!

feeding roses

Here's a picture of my rose garden. I've been saving and drying banana peels to add potassium to the soil but it too cold and blustery to do that today. I've decided to post a rose garden photo each month to document it's progress. In April or after the last frost, I start out feeding every ten days or so with Scotts Rose & Bloom. I also use Miracle Gro for roses and a generic brand of bone meal to add nitrogen. I'm sure we will add another layer of mulch and because we have very friendly neighborhood deer I use  Liquid Fence Deer Repellent on a regular basis. It smells like stinky feet but it's a bud saver!!

the war is on...

My rose bushes are stomped down, my day lilies are gone, the pots of petunias are destroyed, the phlox (which I raised from seed) has been devoured. And just to spite me, he actually came up and peed on my front porch. Yes, it happened. As if he were saying, "You can't pull that old egg trick on me." Well, I'll show him. I went out and spent $37.99 on hard core deer repellent. Your salad days at my expense are over big guy.
