reading

Yesterday was a nice enough day to walk outside. I totaled my usual four miles and lifted weights at the Y. Today it is just plain cold and blustery. I walked the dog; that's enough for me. I may venture downstairs to my treadmill later or maybe spend the afternoon snuggled up reading. Last week I finished French Women Don't Get Facelifts by Mireille Guiliano in book form. I am currently reading The Reason I Jump by Naoki Higashida and The Happy Life Checklist by Amy Spencer on the Ipad.

heat wave

We are beginning our second week of triple digit temperatures here. Needless to say I have cut my outside activity to a bare minimum. Doing lots of reading during the day and watching reality TV at night. My book list consists of:

  • Voices from the Titanic by Geoff Tibballs ( 813 pages, I'm halfway)
  • Shadow of the Titanic by Andrew Wilson
  • If Walls Could Talk An Intimate History of the Home by Lucy Worsley
  • Easy Algebra Step by Step by Sandra McClure and William Clark
I am saying special little prayers for all the animals here in the Midwest who are suffering through the hot weather. Hopefully for them there's a creek nearby.

facinating

I realize I overuse that word when I am posting about books that I am reading, maybe I should just use very good once in awhile. The Man in the Rockefeller Suit by Mark Seal is a very good book. I am halfway through it and hope to finish it today. I hate to leave "very good " books unfinished even overnight. On my new IPad (a birthday gift) I have Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M. by Sam Wasson. Only so-so but maybe it will pick up as I get more into it. I also have the book, The White House by Vicki Goldberg which I pretty much finished in one night as I am a big history buff and The Idiot's Guide to Algebra Practice Problems by Jane P. Gardner because I want to keep my skills sharp.
