mileage and mya

It was a beautiful, bright, sunny day. The temperature reached 60 this afternoon and I took advantage of it by walking 5.17 miles in the hood. While I was walking I met a real sweetheart, a black lab named Mya who is staying with her "human" grandparents for a couple of days. Anyway, I enjoyed walking in just a sweatshirt and scarf. Outlet shopping tomorrow!!

mums

One rainy day in September we drove to Frankenstein, Missouri to buy mums at a favorite mum and pumpkin farm. It's not like Kansas; country roads in Missouri are hilly and very curvy but I don't get car-sick anymore so the hour-long drive was enjoyable. Of course, everything has gone up in price so the $6.50 mums last year are $7.50 this year. Even at that, they are beautiful. I want to try to put them in the ground later this fall and I'm hoping I can accomplish that before the ground freezes. I've heard that's the trick.

I walked over four miles this morning in the neighborhood. While I was walking gray squirrels ran across my path twice, I think that's a good sign...Go Cardinals!!

Enough of sweat pants and flannel shirts. I pulled on my walking clothes, my new Asics gel shoes and my two pedometers (Yes, I wear two, it's an OCD thing) and walked this morning in my neightborhood. I always do a couple of miles on the middle school track. 
As you can see, the leaves are just beginning to turn.
Dear Jesus,
Thank for this glorious October morning. Help me to remember always, "This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us be glad and rejoice in it."

daily walk

Today's supposed to be triple digit hot with high humidity so I was up early for my daily walk. It was actually pleasant at six this morning. I walked a mile to the middle school, two miles on their track, then two miles taking the long way home. I found a heads-up penny on the side-walk on my way back so I'll spend a couple of my "retirement" dollars on lottery tickets.
Here's a true story. We used to have a "naked man" in our neighborhood. I would see him early in the morning, coming back from my walks. I would spot him along the side of his house or in his backyard where he had a really nice pool. A couple of months ago, he and his wife moved to a smaller house on the other side of town. Their house "sold" in about two days. It must of been the pool.
